The course are framed and prescribed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (C.C.I.M.), New Delhi for Kamil-e-Tibb-o-Jarahat (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery – BUMS) degree adopted and conducted by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. Indore, MP and are taught in the college. The BUMS degree is a whole time course of 4 ½ years duration splitted in three professional examinations of 18 months each. In addition a candidate who has passed the IIIrd professional examination shall be eligible for award of Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery – BUMS degree after successful completion of 12 months compulsory rotatory internship in a recognized Institution / Hospital.

Theory and Practical examination in each professional will be held as per schedule framed and announced by University, based on the syllabus for B.U.M.S. degree prescribed by C.C.I.M., New Delhi.

Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery: What is it about?

In this professional course the students are taught about Regimental therapy (llaj -bit- Tadbeer), Venesection, Cupping, Diaphoresis, Diuresis, Turkish bath, Massage, Cauterization, Purging, Emesis, Exercise, Leeching, Pharmacotherapy (llaj-bit-Dawa), Dietotherapy (llaj-bit-Ghiza), Surgery (Jarahat), etc. BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery), like all alternative medical undergraduate programs that fall into the AYUSH category - Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, is monitored by the Central Council of Indian Medicine.

The admission will be granted on the basis of merit obtained in 10+2 or N.E.E.T.) conducted by the Competent Authority appointed by the Association or State Govt. of Madhya Pradesh

The Fee for the BUMS course per year shall be charged at the rate of prescribed by the competent authority of college & Fee Fixation Committee (M.P.) (Revisable time to time)

Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English in their 10+2 exam. Candidates who are willing to take admission must be 17 years. 

The ministry of MP has decided to take admission for BUMS on the basis of NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test). The selection and allotment of candidates for BUMS course will be made from the Merit list Prepared by CBSE. Hence candidate who want to pursue the BUMS course form the state of Madhya Pradesh have to qualify NEET. The candidates who will clear NEET will be eligible for taking admission in college under M.P. State. Selection and allotment of these seats will be conducted by Department of AYUSH Govt. Of M.P.

The basic requirement for the eligibility to get the admission to BUMS programme is qualifying the 10+2 examination with 50% marks. The candidate must have the physicschemistry and biology in 12th class. The students who have the language Urdu in 12th class or having proficiency in Urdu language has given the preference in admission.
